Future projection capacity in 22q11.2 DS

At the 3 rd international conference on 22q11 in Barcelona in November 2019, Clémence Feller (University of Geneva) addressed the issue of projection in the future with individuals with 22q11DS.

Future projection, which refers to the ability to project oneself in the future to pre-experiment an event, shows impairment with various populations such as schizophrenia, depression, autism or PTSD.

The author investigated this issue with 22q11DS and found out significant differences between them and control group: 22q11DS participants provide less detailed and credible narratives. She concluded that 22q11DS seem to be impaired in the ability to project themselves in the future, whether in social or non-social contexts, and also experience less anticipatory pleasure than the control group.
