Aria is a 3 year old girl from Faroe Islands.
The start of Aria's life was a difficult time for her. When Aria was born, the nurse heard and saw that she had a cleft palate. She had difficulty with feeding, and got a feeding tube through the nose.
She also had some difficulties with breathing, but the doctors didnt seem to concerned about it. And she got discharged from the hospital 2 weeks after she was born. And we thought everything was normal, beside from the feeding troubles. And she was to regular check up twice a week to check her weight.
About 1 and a half month after she was born, she started to vomit everything up that she got through her ng tube. And we went to the hospital to check her, and she was admitted, they found that she had serious trouble with her breathing, after 2 days in the hospital in the Faroe Islands, they said they couldnt help her here, and needed to fly her to the national hospital in Denmark. We were there for about 3 weeks, and they found that she had two cysts in her throat, and operated them away, and her breathing has been normal since.
Diagnosis: she was part of a child research, where the doctor did a scan of her thymus, and he couldnt find it. Then they did bloodwork to see if she had 22q11, which came back positive. But later the doctor think he saw a little thymus in a ct scan of her. Her immune system is fine. Aria is nonverbal besides from about 5-10 words, and uses sign language almost to perfection. Beside her talking she can do almost everything, and has reached all her milestones, was just a little late to reach them. She had surgery at 20 months to repair her cleft palate, which went perfect according to her doctor. She goes to kindergarden, and has fysio and occupational therapy once a week.
